Hemophilia and the importance of physical activity
Hemophilia is an inherited coagulopathy characterized by a congenital deficiency of one of the clotting factors, factor VIII or IX, depending on the type of hemophilia. It involves a predisposition to prolonged bleeding, even after minor trauma or even completely spontaneously.
Because of this, it poses a paradox for patients: on the one hand they should play sports, and on the other hand it implies a strong fear about the risk of injury.
Haemofit is our serious game that allows patients to practice sports that are normally inaccessible to them (boxing, soccer, hang gliding, kayaking, …) through the performance of exercises prescribed specifically for them, overcoming the limitations imposed by the disease
How does Haemofit work?
Haemofit is a game that can be classified as an applied game, that is, a game whose primary purpose is not pure entertainment, but to generate engagement and produce a virtuous loop in which the player is enticed to practice, through playing.
Haemofit is based on a proprietary algorithm for recognizing and tracking body movements using only an Android Box, a simple camera, and elastic bands.
These few tools are enough to enable people with hemophilia to try their hand at various sports, such as rowing, soccer and boxing, performing movements designed specifically to improve strength and coordination.
